Living with brass: small daily rituals.
The nicest thing about brass is that it asks to be used. A few small rituals that turn a beautiful object into part of the day.

Light a diya in the evening.
A single oil lamp or tea light at dusk changes a room. It is the oldest ritual there is, and the warm metal makes the light feel softer than a candle on its own.
Keep a bowl by the door.
A small urli or tray by the entrance, for keys, coins, a few petals, gives a daily object a quiet job. It is the first thing you touch coming home.
Use it at the table, not just for show.
A brass katori for chutney, a tray for tea, a vase with a single stem. Pieces in regular use develop a warmth that pieces in a cabinet never do.
Let it mark the seasons.
Bring out more pieces for festivals and gatherings, fewer for quiet weeks. Letting the collection breathe with the calendar keeps it feeling alive rather than static.
Polish once in a while, slowly.
Caring for brass is oddly calming, and it is a nice thing to do on a slow weekend. Looking after an object is part of living with it.
None of this is precious, and that is the point. The best pieces are the ones you reach for without thinking.
